We get questions on install WordPress in a subdirectory. First, a subdirectory on WordPress is a part of an existing URL and is meant to house content which is relevant to the main domain. A subdirectory can be created and WordPress installed on it. This WP installation carries a full website and is necessary as You do not have to purchase a new domain.

The steps to creating a subdirectory are as follows;

Step One: Login to Cpanel

Scroll down to the WordPress installer and click on it to begin installation.

In this case, my goal is to create a website that is strictly for training. To achieve this, I would just have a url that reads www.mysite.com/training.

Step Two: Install WordPress

This is where the magic happens. To install WordPress in a subdirectory , You have to decide what the domain extension would be. In my case, it would be ‘training’

From the above image, the word ‘training’ is affixed ‘in directory’. After doing this, the necessary files would be created in the subdirectory and WordPress can be installed normally.
